The Newest Buzz word: Human Trafficking

So what is Human Trafficking?
Human Trafficking is widely defined as recruiting, harboring, moving, or obtaining a person by force, fraud, or coercion , for the purpose of subjecting that person to involuntary servitude, debt bondage, slavery, or commercial sexual exploitation. (immigrantjustice.org)

To be concise: Human Trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery!

Trafficked persons are usually under extreme fear, stress, and isolation. Due to language and cultural barriers and safety concerns, victims may tent to avoid authority. There are many forms of trafficking which include, sex trade, forced labor and indentured servitude. It is estimated that 800,000-900,000 people are involved globally in Human Trafficking!

EVENT PLANNING BOARD
CRIS will be setting up a new Event Planning Board (previously the Community Liasion Taskforce), to help field all of the great ideas volunteers, staff, and community members have. The board is looking for 9 volunteers who can devote 6-9 months to the planning of new and existing events, such as World Refugee Day. With the creation of this volunteer board, we hope to make existing events event better and to brainstorm new events that will increase our community outreach and fundraising. If you have ideas and would love to help plan some of our amazing events please contact volunteer@cris-ohio.com for an application!
