Mid-Month Minutes
A CLEAN SWEEP!
Great thanks to the Northwest
Christian Church! During the month of August,
they collected 11 gently used vacuums for our refugee
families. In the month of October, CRIS will be distributing
baskets of cleaning supplies to go along with these
vacuums. We need approximately 30 of each of the following:
paper towels, dish soap, brooms, sponges, mops, and
buckets. If you are at the grocery store or dollar store
this week, consider throwing a few of these extras in
your cart! We can pick them up from you or you can drop
them off at our north office anytime!
What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
Every day during this month, Muslims around the world
spend the daylight hours in a complete fast.
During the blessed month of Ramadan, Muslims all over
the world abstain from food, drink, and other physical
needs during the daylight hours. As a time to purify
the soul, refocus attention on God, and practice self-sacrifice,
Ramadan is much more than just not eating and drinking.

What is Rosh Hashanah?
In Hebrew, Rosh Hashanah means, literally, "head
of the year" or "first of the year."
Rosh Hashanah is commonly known as the Jewish New Year.
It is a time to begin introspection, looking back at
the mistakes of the past year and planning the changes
to make in the new year.

Citizenship Classes
…pass it on
Sunday October 7th is the mandatory training for those
planning to volunteer as one-on-one tutors for the Citizenship
Classes. The training is at 1:00 in the Abbey Lane apartment
complex (4313 Golden Gate Square East apt F / Columbus
, Ohio 43224 ).
Classes are offered every 2nd and 4th Sunday starting
October 14th. Volunteers can work one or both Sundays

REFUGEE FAMILY NEEDS FRIENDS
AND SUPPORT:
As many of you know, August
and September are the the busy month in the Resettlement
program. Our clients are in need of kitchen and bathroom
items (clean supplies, toiltries, paper products etc).
Also, if you have a TV that works but isn't being used,
please pass it our way! Email or call with questions.
