NWCC youth, and adult volunteers, go on a tri-ennial mission trip.  This time, it is to support he Kentucky Appalachian Ministries (last time it was also in support of Appalachia).

A busload of enthusiastic volunteers descend to a place where we can help  We help by providing labor to meet unmet maintenance needs, by teaching and mentoring youth, by bonding, by sharing the love of God … it is a grand time for the youth, a time that is supported by the entire NWCC congregation.

Kentucky Appalachian Ministry is a place where family, friends, and visitors alike are welcomed and invited to “stay a while,” to enjoy the hospitality of the people and the beauty of the mountains. KAM serves by sharing the faith, gifts, and experiences that are the heart of Kentucky Appalachia. In many ways, KAM is a bridge whereby visitors become friends as we honor culture, practice hospitality, and share our gifts with each other. This sharing expresses God’s love through responses to social, economic, educational, and spiritual caring and support.

KAM is a Mission Center of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in the United States and Canada. In faithful witness to our Disciples of Christ heritage, KAM functions as ecumenical ministry working with local congregations and not-for-profit organizations regardless of their denominational affiliation.

Special Events Jan 21

In the Disciples Church tradition, each congregation is financially independent, and manages its own affairs.  Our congregation runs on calendar year fiscal basis…the various offices of the church have been developing budgets for 2018 and the members of the church have provided their estimates of 2018 giving.

This process may culminate on Sunday, January 21 (after 2nd service), with a planned (but not yet formally announced) meeting to discuss and vote on a budget for 2018.  While these meetings are generally routine,it is helpful if the members of the congregation are present to here the spend priorities for the coming year.  And while the meetings are generally routine, it happens, occasionally, that the proposed budget is modified by the members of the congregation.

Do come, and participate in this …
Following the congregational meeting, our Fellowship Commision is sponsoring a POTLUCK called Soup, Stew, and Salad.  What a nice way to spend a Sunday lunch, especially on a cold winter day.

Signup this Sunday for next weeks event.

Youth Choir Retreat 2018

No, it was not summer.   It is winter.  Time for snowball fights, sledding, the beauty of “white”, hot chocolate and guitars around a roaring fire.  Also time to retreat, for our youth choirs to plan for this year’s events.

This year, about 40 of our youth assembled for this annual Camp Christian retreat.

Camp Christian is a gem.  Accredited by the American Camp Association, it is a good place to have a weekend with friends, or friends to come.  Lifelong friendships are made here, in inclusive programming..

Mens Fellowship Breakfast

Saturday.  8:00 AM.  Saturday Feb 14.

A mix of ages of a congenial sort.  Some may smell a little.  Some may sleep through sermons.  Some might be of another political party.  But we have a good time, eat well, laugh a lot, learn some, and welcome all who want to join.  Try it out!
