Love, Joy, Peace...
What We Believe
Our Mission
The Mission of this congregation shall be to lead people to faith in Jesus Christ, to encourage their active commitment to His service, and to facilitate their growth in grace and in the knowledge of Christ. Further, it shall be our mission to work for the unity of all Christians and to participate in the common task of building the Kingdom of God.
Our Vision
The Vision of this congregation is to be a relevant and growing church, actively embodying and sharing the love of God revealed by our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Empowered by our Lord, we shall be:
Radically hospitable - inviting, welcoming, and embracing all people into the family of Christ.
Passionately worshipful - intentionally developing deeper faith and commitment to follow Christ.
Faithfully and extravagantly generous - to the work of Christ’s Church, going forth beyond our walls in risk-taking mission and service.
Who Are The Disciples?
History of the Disciples
The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) was founded in the early 1800s in the United States. Seeking to move beyond denominational disagreements, the founders envisioned a united church of Jesus Christ modeled on the New Testament. Our community of faith is structured around the biblical idea of covenant and emphasizes accountability to one another because of our shared belief in Jesus Christ.
Practices
Disciples practice freedom of belief.  We are called together around belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Disciples are free to follow their consciences guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study and prayer, and we are expected to extend that freedom to others.
We hold the centrality of Scripture and recognize that each person has the freedom - and the responsibility - to study God's Word within the community of the church.
Disciples celebrate the Lord's Supper every week in worship and believe that the Table is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ. Disciples practice baptism by immersion and affirm that through baptism the old self-centered life is set aside, and a new life of trust in God begins.
Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other traditions of baptism are honored.
The chalice symbolizes the central place of communion in worship.
The X-shaped cross of the disciple Andrew is a reminder of the ministry of each person and the importance of evangilism.
Tenets
We invite to the Lord's Table. We embrace at the Lord's Table. We empower from the Lord's Table. We love as Christ loves. We serve as Christ serves. We forgive as Christ forgives. In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, liberty. In all things, charity.
